Mdm Ng is an amputee who came to St Luke’s Hospital for rehabilitation after an operation in Alexandra Hospital. She is on the Public Assistance scheme which helps to cover her finances and daily living. However, it is insufficient to cover her medical expenses and other additional needs.

Unable to walk and staying alone in a one-room rented flat, Mdm Ng does not have anybody to turn to for help in her daily living. To resume independent daily living, she requires a wheelchair with detachable footrests which she cannot afford to pay for even with the help of Public Assistance funds.

Recognizing her financial hardship and burdens, St Luke’s Hospital has used its Patient Welfare Fund to purchase the wheelchair Mdm Ng so desperately needs. With this, she is able to resume her daily life at home in familiar surroundings.

Fund raising is an on-going effort at St Luke’s Hospital to help patients like Mdm Ng and many other patients. Since inception, Zonta Club, schools, organizations and churches have helped the hospital to raise funds by participating in fund raising events and through organizing independent fund raising activities. The hospital would like to express its heart-felt gratitude for the generous donations and active support in its fund raising efforts.

The hospital would like to invite those who are able, to give a part to charity in its mission to provide care and support to the less privileged elderly in the community. Donations of any amount will go a long way in helping the hospital to provide quality health care to its patients.
