Scholarship for the Master of Science (Speech and Language Pathology) :

We are inviting suitably qualified and dedicated individuals to apply for our scholarship for the Master of Science (Speech and Language Pathology) programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

This Master of Science (Speech and Language Pathology) programme is offered jointly by the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (SoM) and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at National University of Singapore. Applications for admission to the above NUS programme will close on 30 June 2010.

Applicants must seek admission to the programme at the National University of Singapore on their own and must be accepted for admission to the programme before being considered for a scholarship with St Luke’s Hospital.

Upon being awarded the scholarship, scholars will be required to sign a Training Deed with St Luke’s Hospital.

1) Senior Nurse Manager / Nurse Manager

Responsibilities
Plan and direct daily operational activities in the wards
Deploy and supervise nursing personnel, as well as provide in-service training for nursing and ancillary staff
Supervise the maintenance of nursing records, medical treatments and related services
 
Requirements
Registered Nurse with relevant post-basic Nursing qualifications, preferably with ward administration and management experience
Able to work 2 rotating shifts
(Those with relevant years of experience may be considered for a senior position)
 
2) Clinical instructors

Responsibilities
Implement induction programmes for new nursing staff
Assist in planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing clinical and classroom training programmes; as well as supervision and coaching of nursing staff in wards
 
Requirements
Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board, preferably with relevant training and coaching certificates

Able to work 2 rotating shifts

 
3) Staff Nurse (Inpatient)

Responsibilities
Plan and provide nursing care to meet the patients’s need
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patients, treatments and conditions
Assist in supervision of junior nurses and ancillary staff
Ensure availability of ward stock
 
Requirements
Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board
Minimum 1 year’s ward experience
Able to work 2 or 3 rotating shifts
 
4) Physiotherapists

Responsibilities
Provide quality geriatric physiotherapy to patients during office hours
Participate in patients’ case consultations and meetings
Supervise therapy assistants and provide in-service education for staff and caregivers
 
Requirements
Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy, with interest in working with the elderly
Those with experience may be considered for senior position
 
5) Therapy Assistants (Temp to Perm)

Responsibilities
Assist the Therapists in providing therapy treatments (including lifting, transferring and transporting patients)
Perform housekeeping duties in the gym
 
Requirements
GCE ‘N’ level or above, preferably with some basic experience in caring for the elderly sick. Physically fit

6) Assistant Chaplain

Responsibilities
Assist the Chaplain in the following:
Provide pastoral care and counseling for patients and families, staff and volunteers where appropriate
Plan and implement Christian programmes
Conduct worship services for patients and staff
Build and coordinate a team of volunteer pastoral care givers
 
Requirements
A recognized pastor or mature Christian worker, preferably over 30 years of age, with Theological training and experience in pastoral care and counseling
Interest in ministering to the elderly
Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin
Conversant in Chinese dialects such as Hokkien, Cantonese
Able to work independently
Able to work with the interdisciplinary team
 
7) Medical Social Worker

Responsibilities
Perform social and financial assessment of patients and make recommendations
Provide counseling to patients and their families and lead in family conferences
Liaise with relevant organizations for collaboration and networking in the care of the elderly
Attend to the social needs of destitute patients
Participate in a multi-disciplinary team on patient care
Conduct groupwork with the elderly patients or their caregivers
 
Requirements
Degree in Social Work (fresh graduates are welcome to apply) 
Must have an interest to work with the elderly in a hospital environment
 
8) Care Coordinator

Responsibilities
Be an advocate for patients and their families
Networking with step-down care facilities to enhance support to patients and families
Conduct post discharge follow-up
Develop generic care management tools to coordinate care for patients
Participate in research studies to enhance patient care.
 
Requirements
Must have professional qualifications in Nursing, Social Work or Allied Health or/and any clinical disciplines
At least 3-5 years of clinical experience in Singapore
 
9) Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in dispensing/despatching of all prescriptions/ward stock to inpatients and outpatients
Stock-check and topping-up 
Purchasing of pharmacy stock; receiving, storing of stock 
Patient counseling
Perform clerical duties
 
Requirements
GCE 'O' level or equivalent
Must have Pharmacy Technician certificate
Minimum 2 years working experience in a hospital pharmacy
 

10) Finance Manager

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:-
Oversee daily financial operations including statutory and management reporting, credit controls as well as cash flow projection and utilisation.
Monitor financial performance through financial information analysis of business operations, funds management and budgetary controls.
Formulate, review and implement financial policies and procedures cum establish control procedures to improve accounting reporting systems.
Liaise with banks and financial agencies for funds investments.
Provide accurate and timely consolidation of month-end closing of accounts.
Ensure statutory and tax compliances and accountability.
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors for financial audits.
Participate and support fundraising activities.
 
Requirements
Degree in Accountancy or equivalent Accounting professional qualifications.
