The medical team at St Luke’s
Hospital (SLH) is staffed by experienced registered
medical practitioners, specializing in geriatrics
and rehabilitation. The hospital also has visiting
geriatric consultants from the local acute hospitals
such as Alexandra Hospital, who offer expert medical
advice in co-operation with the SLH resident doctors.
They lead clinical reviews and multi-disciplinary
meetings on alternate weeks for each patient.
Since 1997, St. Luke’s Hospital has responded
to changes in current wound management practices
and has taken steps to change practices in the community,
predominantly the management of chronic wounds and
in particular, pressure ulcers. Pressure and leg
ulcers constitute two of the largest categories
of chronic wounds.
Post operative nursing care for stoma patients is
one of the essential aspects of rehabilitation process.
Nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital are knowledgeable
and equipped to undertake the roles to care for
such patients. |
