EatSafe SG Basic Hands-on Workshop

MOH’s EatSafe SG initiative was launched in July 2022. It applies to all Community Care services that provide meals to clients with swallowing difficulties and/or involved in the direct care for patients with Dysphagia. To support the initiative, SLH is conducting the EatSafe SG Basic Hands-on Workshop..

Pre-requisite requirement:

Completed mandatory MOH EatSafe SG e-learning programme on AIC’s Community Care Learning Management System (CCLMS).

  • MOH EatSafe SG E-learning Programme (Full: Gum based)
  • MOH EatSafe SG E-learning Programme (Full: Starch-based)
  • MOH EatSafe SG E-learning Programme (Full: Gum & Starch-based)
  • Only 1 of the above e-Learning programme is needed, depending on what type of thickeners are used in the institution.

     

Who should attend:

  • Doctors, Nurses, Kitchen Staff, Dieticians, Speech Therapists & Institution Champions

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to

  • Reinforce understanding of new diet texture and fluid labels and descriptors

  • Perform diet texture and fluid tests to assess which IDDSI levels they fit into

  • Demonstrate accurate preparation of fluid textures

  • Understand strategies to adapt food to meet various IDDSI levels

Course Description:

  • Revision of theory components, i.e., understanding of new diet texture and fluid labels and descriptors

  • Demonstrate accurate preparation of fluid textures

  • Perform diet texture and fluid tests to assess which IDDSI levels they fit into

  • Understand basic strategies to adapt food to meet various IDDSI levels

  • CCSSF-T-CAS-2021-1 Assist therapist in performing client assessments (Basic II)

  • CCSSF-T-CAS-4022-1 Assess and prepare report on client’s condition for therapist (Advanced)

  • CCSSF-T-FOCACT-3023-1 Support therapists to reinforce client education and training to client and caregivers (Intermediate)

  • CCSSF-T-FOCACT-4024-1 Educate client and caregiver about client conditions, and train them in relevant areas of client training to improve/maintain client conditions under guidance of therapist (Advanced)
