Stroke Rehab: Assist Clients in Stroke Rehab (Occupational Therapy Domain) Basic level - Part 2

Stroke rehabilitation is an important part of recovery after stroke. Join this course to gain additional knowledge of stroke rehab and skills to assist in common upper limb training and functional cognitive and visual perception training.

Course objectives

  • Assess compensatory methods
  • Employ principles of closed, modified closed and open chain concept to train upper limb recovery
  • Facilitate upper limb recovery for patients after stroke with flaccid, increased tone and ataxia
  • Carry out basic cognitive and visual perception intervention with proper cues

Course outline (4 half days)

Day 1:

  • Principles of closed and modified closed chain concept
  • Facilitate upper limb recovery (flaccid clients)

Day 2:

  • Principles of open chain concept
  • Upper limb recovery (increased tone and ataxic clients)

Day 3:

  • Cognitive and visual perceptual deficits
  • Basic cognitive and visual perception interventions

Day 4:

  • Skills competency assessment
