Day Rehabilitation Centre
The rehabilitation programme at St Luke’s Hospital, with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists, aims to help patients regain their ability to carry out activities of daily living, such as balance and walking, eating, speech and toileting. Rehabilitation helps to restore functional ability or delay deterioration due to disease and ageing, thereby improving quality of life.
Our “high tech, high touch” approach helps patients cope with functional changes, enable independence and reintegrate into the community.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists work with patients to manage their pain, improve their balance and physical mobility. This may be done through a variety of techniques such as exercise, stretching and massage. Our physiotherapists will develop an individualised care plan to best suit patients’ needs.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists work with patients to achieve their goals to participate in the activities of daily living. These may include self-care, leisure and work activities. Occupational therapy may include activities or recommendations on environment modifications or assistive devices. Our occupational therapists will design an individualised care plan catered to individual patients’ lifestyles and activity preferences.

Speech Therapy
Speech therapists help patients who have communication problems and speech disorders. They also help patients with swallowing difficulties. Speech therapy may include swallow exercise to strengthen the muscles involved in swallowing, breathing techniques to improve speech function and language and cognitive communication therapy exercises.

Music Therapy
Music therapy is the scientific use of music interventions within a therapeutic relationship towards observable or measurable functional, educational, rehabilitative or well-being outcomes by a credentialled professional.

Hydrotherapy
St Luke’s Hospital is the first Community Hospital in Singapore to provide physiotherapy treatment in an aquatic environment.
Known for its ability to improve mobility, flexibility and overall well-being, Hydrotherapy leverages water’s natural properties like density, buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, and viscosity to facilitate physiotherapy treatments.
The programme runs every Saturday at St Joseph’s Home and is offered to our outpatients on a referral basis.
Lymphedema Clinic
A joint partnership between St Luke’s Hospital (SLH) and Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), the SCS – SLH Lymphedema Clinic aims to meet the growing needs of patients in the west who require treatment and long-term management of the condition.
Cancer treatment involving removal of lymph nodes and / or radiotherapy can lead to compromised function of the lymphatic system. This may lead to swelling in the affected area, known as Lymphedema.
Our therapists certified in Lymphedema management taps on Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), including manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy and exercises to reduce the discomfort and swelling from Lymphedema.
You may benefit from our programme if you are:
- Receiving cancer treatment such as surgery involving the removal of lymph node(s) or radiotherapy to your lymph nodes and / or
- Having swelling in the arm, leg, and trunk as a result of your cancer treatments
