SYNOPSIS
Talks
Explore the foundations of accurate wound assessment, focusing on evidence-based tools and techniques that support better clinical decision-making. Participants will gain insights into best practices for evaluating wound types, sizes, exudate, infection risks, and healing progress.
Let’s dive into the management of complex wounds through a holistic, patient-centred lens. It highlights the importance of comprehensive assessment, recognising underlying factors such as comorbidities, lifestyle, and psychosocial needs that influence healing. Participants will explore practical strategies to personalise care plans, enhance patient engagement, and drive better healing outcomes through collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches
This session highlights Kerecis®, an advanced wound care product derived from intact fish skin, which has emerged as a novel solution for treating complex and chronic wounds. Kerecis® preserves the natural structure and components of skin, promoting cellular infiltration, tissue regeneration, and reduced inflammation. Clinicians will gain insights into the science behind fish skin grafting, its unique properties compared to mammalian-derived matrices, and real-world case studies demonstrating its effectiveness in managing diabetic foot ulcers, burns, and other hard-to-heal wounds. The session will explore how biologically active materials like Kerecis® are transforming the treatment landscape and supporting improved patient outcomes.
Workshops
Wound Assessment Triangle Challenge: From Assessment to Action
Put your wound care knowledge to the test in this fun and fast-paced group challenge! Using the Wound Assessment Triangle framework—Wound Bed, Wound Edge, and Periwound Skin—participants will work in teams to assess simulated wound cases and develop effective treatment plans.
Focused on the unique challenges of malignant wounds, this workshop covers assessment, symptom control, and palliative approaches. Participants will explore best practices in managing pain, odor, bleeding, and patient comfort.
