As the Medical Director, Dr Andrew Samson leads our multidisciplinary Medical Services team of doctors, pharmacists, and dietitians to drive excellence in patient care. He is also the Deputy Chairman, Medical Board (Clinical Services), overseeing the development, integration, and delivery of clinical services, ensuring high standards, measuring outcomes, and driving continuous improvement. He also serves as Chief Medical Information Officer, overseeing the optimisation of IT systems to enhance clinical operations and support patient care.

Since joining SLH in 2005, Dr Andrew has demonstrated a profound commitment to patient care and organisational excellence. Advancing from Medical Officer to Principal Staff Physician, he was appointed Assistant Medical Director (Inpatient Services) in April 2020, taking on increasing responsibilities with dedication. A strong advocate for holistic palliative care, Dr Andrew played a key role in establishing SLH’s dedicated inpatient palliative ward—one of the first in the Western region—enhancing end-of-life care for patients and their families.
