Prameela Logannadan
Senior Clinical Educator, St Luke’s Academy
"I have the power to shape the future of nursing, one student at a time."
I’m Prameela, a senior nurse educator with 24 years of healthcare experience. My journey began with a deep desire to help others, transforming from a bedside nurse in intensive care to a mentor guiding the next generation of healthcare professionals.
When I joined St Luke’s Hospital, I was drawn to its unique approach of care – focusing on rehabilitation, dementia, and palliative care. Unlike the high-intensity environment of an ICU, here I discovered a profound ability to build deeper connections with patients as they recovered and regained their independence.

One moment stands out vividly. A stroke patient gradually regained his ability to walk through consistent care and rehabilitation. The gratitude in his eyes reminded me exactly why I chose this profession – compassionate care can transform lives through small, intentional efforts.
As a nurse educator, my role bridges theoretical knowledge and real-world challenges. I develop curricula, conduct specialised training, and mentor students who will become the future of healthcare.
My care philosophy is simple: Healthcare is about treating the whole person, not just their condition. Whether I’m supporting a struggling student or assisting a challenging patient, I approach every interaction with patience and empathy.
Take, for instance, an elderly patient who initially refused meals and would often spit at nurses. Instead of getting frustrated, we listened. We discovered his food preferences, incorporated his favorite dishes, and transformed a difficult situation into a moment of connection. It’s these small, human moments that define true care.

Responsibility is my core principle. As one of the nurse educators managing St Luke’s Hospital’s training, I understand the weight of my role. We never cancel a class, we always find a way to execute our plans, and we lead by example.
The knowledge that every lecture, every guidance, every moment of patience has the power to shape not just a nurse’s skills, but their heart for care, is what keeps me going.
