This course is a continuum of the basic course where classroom knowledge on the therapeutic use of music in healthcare settings is being enacted in real world healthcare facilities, with the provision of direct and immediate feedback. The combination of a 4-hour class offering with a 2-hour onsite visit to the learner’s place of work will concretize the theoretical learning with a practical session

- Completed Therapeutic Use of Music in Healthcare Settings I
Course content:
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Recall concepts learned in basic course, including:
- Basic rhythmic playing/leading
- Knowledge on the safe use of music
- Technical skills in basic instrument play and safe handling of instruments
- Ability to differentiate between music therapy from use of music in activities
- Learn to align therapeutic needs with goal(s) of music activity
- Acquire knowledge on age-appropriate choice of music for their clients/patients
- Practice age-appropriate relational interactions with their clients/patients
- Formulate music activity plans
- Acquire experience in music activity implementation
Who Should Attend:
Therapy assistants, nurses and centre-based staff, activity staff, programme coordinators and all other community care staff involved in conducting activities with seniors.
